The HSO website has nearly died and I have to go through all sorts of foolishness to log on and so I forget.  But today I checked and there hasn't been much from you since early August.  Given the health thing that you've been dealing with I find it understandable but also concerning.  I wish you well and hope that whatever is going on is tolerable.  I miss your ramblings and hope you can squeek a few out now and then to help you pass the time.

Tom

You recently wrote about someone milling some cedar.  I carve decoys and am looking for a contact for some cedar.  Would  you send me an email with the contact info for the guy?  Thanks.

on its way

Hi, Bobby!! This is the Reinhard that used to post on HSO. I now post on Lake State Fishing.  I saw your post  about Island Lake near Duluth. I fished this lake since i was a kid and years ago i never caught smallies in that lake. It has now become one of the best smallie lakes in the state in my opinion.

Fishinfey8 gave some good info and is a good guy. West side, East said realy doesn't matter although i fish the east side more. They are all over. It's a big lake as you know. Basicly early in the year the many shorelines of the main shore and the islands are the go points. in the summer months there are many humps on the east side surrounded by deeper water were they seem to be then although i do get them in the evenings with surface lures also.  Be carefull running around full speed on the west side unless you know the lake. many stumps and rocks hidden on shallow flats.

East side has deeper water but care is advised.  The Cloquet River enters the lake on the east side and is a good place.  Dont be surprised to get a walleye or two or maby even a musky.  Hope this helps some. Got a great site Bobby. Reinhard

Welcome to the site Reinhard and thank you for the island lake info that sure helps a lot. I do miss your posts on fm and I do from time to time visit lake state as you know us fishermen are a wandering bunch. Hope you sign up or at the very least come and visit the Lodge, Bobby
